All-ceramic crowns and porcelain veneers are almost identical. Slightly different in shape, all-ceramic crowns will cover all the surfaces of a tooth where as a porcelain veneer covers only the front surface (those facing the lips and cheeks). Both of them have unique advantages and limitations that make them appropriate for treating specific dental concerns. All-ceramic or porcelain crowns can help improve both the appearance and function of the teeth. Whereas porcelain veneers generally address only cosmetic concerns and are used to solve only minor problems. However, in choosing to use a porcelain veneer, the tooth surface will be less trimmed as it will be applied to less of the surface of the natural tooth.
